Harvard Band tosses chrysanthemums


The Harvard University Band has a longstanding tradition to throw yellow flowers up in the air at the end of every football game. In the 1950’s, the Saturday football game was a major social activity on campus. Harvard band members would give their dates yellow chrysanthemums to wear as a status symbol that they were “with the band”. This started the tradition of the band tossing the yellow flowers at every game. Ryan’s Florist is proud to be a part of this tradition by providing these flowers. Go Harvard! • Proper employment contracts and above-average social and working conditions
• Freedom of association
• Prohibition of child labor
• Health care and a secure working environment
• Responsible attitude towards natural resources and the environment
• Prohibition of highly toxic pesticides
The FLP label guarantees the consumer, flowers that have been produced in a socially responsible and environmentally friendly way.
The standards are based on the International Code of Conduct (ICC).
